AU: Officer sacked over internet site

Posted on August 17, 2010 by pogowasright.org

Tim Dornin reports:

A senior South Australian police officer has been sacked for helping set up a lurid internet dating profile that encouraged men to pursue his ex-girlfriend for sex.

Detective Sergeant Darren James Clohesy lost his job on Monday after failing to attend a police disciplinary hearing in response to his court conviction.

Police Commissioner Mal Hyde found Clohesy’s offending to be serious and his behaviour unacceptable.

In a case before the Adelaide Magistrates Court last week, Clohesy was given an 18-month suspended sentence and ordered to perform 320 hours of community service work.

He was originally charged with stalking but pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of offensive behaviour.

He also admitted to twice breaching his bail conditions and to improperly accessing the police computer system.
