Just caught this big item that seemed to be lost in a Facebook announcement post. Luckily, it was picked up on the ValleyWagradar screen, and for good reason. Facebook’s new security feature just made losing your cell phone extremely dangerous. Facebook launched a new mobile feature which sends a temporary account password to your phone when you are on an untrusted computer. The new password feature has all the right intentions and makes sense conceptually. Unfortunately, it poses a serious problem for Facebook’s 500 million (and growing) users who aren’t aware it exists. The problem: Hackers and identity thieves do know it exists, and can take advantage of the feature.
