The Canadian Press reported:
The Czech Republic’s Justice Ministry has published the names of current judges and state prosecutors who used to be members of the Communist Party before the collapse of communism more than 20 years ago.
The data posted Friday on the ministry’s website shows that a fifth of the current 3,076 judges and almost a third of the 1,272 prosecutors were members of the Communist Party.
The move came after the constitutional Court ruled in November that the public has a right to know such information. The court said its publication doesn’t violate the country’s privacy law.
Okay, so now that the public has that information, what, if anything, does it shed light or help with? Are there currently cases where past affiliation with the Communist party might suggest bias?
