Adobe has fixed an issue in Flash Player that let “cookies” track users across the internet.
Adobe’s Flash Player uses local storage objects (LSOs) to hold bits of data, such as site preferences, similar to the way browser cookies work. However, LSOs are difficult to manage, and can even be used to restore browser cookies that have been deleted.

Adobe is now working on a system to let the so-called “Flash cookies” be removed permanently and be better managed directly from the browser. As part of those efforts, Adobe has teamed up with Google and Mozilla to bring an LSO management API to their browsers, to let users clear such data from the browser. Approved last week, the system will first show up in the development version of Chrome.
