Former chief building official Ray Waller has won his lawsuit against Calaveras County for its violation of his privacy rights.
After Waller was dismissed in 2007, the county released 1,200 documents from his personnel file in response to public records requests for the information by the Stockton Record and the Calaveras Enterprise. The county argued that Waller had no expectation of privacy by the time the documents were released.
