Private detectives hired by Deutsche Bank AG tried to place an intern at a law firm to gather information about businessman Leo Kirch, according to a letter by a German data-protection regulator.
The security firm in 2006 asked a lawyer to apply for an internship at Munich-based Bub Gauweiler & Partner, which represents Kirch in lawsuits against Deutsche Bank, the German data protection agency wrote in a letter reviewed by Bloomberg News. The Frankfurt-based bank stopped the effort before the lawyer started the internship, the letter said.
