Deutsche Bank AG, Germany’s biggest bank, said a probe found four incidents of questionable investigative or surveillance activities at the company.
The cases raise “legal issues” related to data protection and privacy, the Frankfurt-based bank said in an e-mailed statement today, citing a report from law firm Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton.
All four incidents involved mandates performed by outside service providers for the corporate security department, Deutsche Bank said. The cases were “isolated” and there was no indication current management-board members were involved or had knowledge of the activities, the bank said.
