The privacy commissioner has ruled out an investigation into the new closed-circuit television cameras installed outside the Legislative Council building.
At least eight surveillance cameras were installed recently, but there are no signs warning the public of their presence – violating a “guidance note” issued in July by the privacy commissioner for personal data.
Commissioner Allan Chiang Yam-wang said since the Legco secretariat is working to rectify the privacy breach, there is no need to launch a probe.
