Polish Radio reports:
The interior ministry and police have announced their decision to withdraw from the INDECT project.
Among other things, INDECT is to be a system capable of tracing criminal activity in the Internet, for example, human organ trafficking, child pornography, paedophile or even terrorist activity with the application of specially devised algorithms.
INDECT shall also be able to analyse video data supplied by CCTV monitoring systems. Why then such a decision on the part of law enforcers?
If you listen to the audio report (link above the story), they cite criticisms that the project won’t really improve what they’ve already got in place and they discuss the Orwellian and civil liberties concerns raised by the project.
