The provincial privacy commissioner’s office has ordered Service Alberta to better monitor how an Edmonton-based registry company handles personal information stored in a provincial database, after a man’s address was disclosed to a person who later arrived at his home to confront him.
In an order released this week, adjudicator Teresa Cunningham ordered Service Alberta to more to effectively monitor how employees of Sentinel Registry Ltd., at 128th Avenue and 82nd Street, access personal information held in the MOVES database, which houses driver’s licence information.
The man complained in February 2010 that a registry employee provided his address and photograph to another person who wanted to harass the him.
