Sarah A. Downey of Abine announced their new MaskMe service this week. The free version of this service provides masked emails and safe passwords that you can throw away or block if they are abused. The premium service, for $5/month, also provides masked credit card numbers and masked phone numbers as well as other features, including MaskMe Mobile for Android and iOS. For now, the service is available for Firefox and Chrome; the company hopes to make a version available for Safari and IE in the future.
I don’t normally link to products or service announcements on this blog, but this is one you may want to check into in light of all the hacks, breaches, and general misuse of personal information we’ve seen.
