Posted on September 27, 2013 by pogowasright.org

Mary Sell reports from Montgomery, Alabama:

The state board of education plans to vote next month on a broad student-data privacy policy that it said will become more specific in the next year.

The policy in part is a reaction to criticism of Common Core, a set of national education standards adopted by the board in 2010. Despite repeated statements from the department that it doesn’t share student information with third parties or the federal government, privacy concerns have been a rallying cry for those opposed to Common Core and its implementation in Alabama.
