State Rep. Robert Matzie, D-16, Ambridge, voted against a massive transportation bill that passed the House and Senate last week, explaining he did so because of privacy concerns.
“There are many good parts about this bill. But I cannot support any legislation that would put Pennsylvanians’ personal information for sale on the open market,” Matzie said in a news release.
Matzie found under a provision in the bill that NICUSA, a company with a state contract, can sell driver records to brokers, multinational consultants and insurance companies with very little oversight, according to the news release.
