Australian authorities are steadily stepping up requests to Google for user information, according to the company’s latest transparency report.
In the second half of 2013, Australian governments and their agencies made requests for the personal information of 944 account holders, Google revealed on Friday.
That’s the largest number since the company began publishing the six-monthly reports in 2009, and a 17 per cent rise on the first six months of 2013.
