Liechtenstein’s government said Thursday a tax pact with the U.S. will come into effect Jan. 1 after being passed by parliament.
The agreement means Liechtenstein will provide U.S. tax authorities with client data upon request from tax years 2009 onwards. U.S. authorities must provide the identity of the U.S. taxpayer suspected of hiding money in Liechtenstein, as well as what is known as an underlying fact pattern, or details linked to the Liechtenstein assets.
