A government panel has approved a system to allow companies to sell personal data such as purchase and location history to third parties on condition of anonymity, it has been learned.
The advisory panel to the government on personal data issues reached the agreement on June 9, paving the way for companies to provide personal data to third parties without obtaining consent from individuals. The approved scheme will be incorporated in an outline that will serve as a basis for revisions to the Act on the Protection of Personal Information.
