Alberta’s privacy legislation, parts of which were declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court of Canada last year, will be rendered invalid unless a motion to extend its legal life is granted within the next four weeks.
In a unanimous decision last year, the court gave the province one year to amend its Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) after striking down the law over a case involving people being videotaped crossing a picket line in Edmonton.
