Waking up in the morning is challenging enough for some of us. Waking up to discover all the content of your blog is gone and seemingly unrecoverable is even more challenging.
Unfortunately, Hostgator’s support was inundated with support tickets due to another issue they had last week, and it was quite a while before they were able to run a security scan to ensure that the site hadn’t been attacked or compromised. We also needed their help to deal with the mysteriously corrupted and then missing tables with the approximately 25,000 posts this blog has published in the past few years.
But we’re back now, and I’ll try to pull together some links to interesting news developments over the past few days that I would have covered had we been up and running. Look for that post later today.
Thanks so much to all the readers and fans who emailed to express dismay that the site was unavailable and/or who offered to help.
Maybe in my next life I’ll be fabulously wealthy and be able to afford some top-notch hosting service and my own staff to deal with tech issues.
In the interim, remember that this site does not require you to provide your real name or any email address if you wish to comment on posts, so even if the site is ever attacked, there is almost no personal information that would be of value to anyone.
And now back to work for me…
