White Paper: The Impact of Privacy and Data Protection Legislation on Biometric Authentication

Posted on February 5, 2015 by pogowasright.org

This white paper from Goode Intelligence (GI) explores the impact of privacy and security on biometric systems and data. It identifies state privacy and data protection legislation that is applicable to biometrics and examines a legal memorandum commissioned by behavioral biometrics specialists BehavioSec.

The white paper argues that as more and more biometric solutions are deployed to mainstream digital services, questions surrounding the privacy and security implications of biometrics are increasingly being asked. With the growth of biometric technology and its expansion on to consumer digital services, privacy and security concerns are correspondingly growing.

The white paper explores:

  • The impact of privacy and security on biometrics
  • Definition of Biometric Data
  • The impact of data protection legislation on biometric data
    • The European Union experience
    • Other regions experience
  • Legal analysis on BehavioSec’s Behavioral Biometrics Technology
  • An introduction to BehavioSec’s Behavioral Biometrics

I think it’s ironic that one has to sign up and provide personally identifying information in order to read a “free” white paper on the impact authentication (biometric) has on personal privacy.
