On Friday, the Alaska Supreme Court declared unconstitutional the State’s Parental Notification Law, saying that requiring notification for parents of minors seeking an abortion violates minors’ right to equal protection.
In 2007, the Court ruled in State v Planned Parenthood of Alaska, known as Planned Parenthood II, that a Parental Consent Act passed by the legislature violated teens’ right to privacy as applied to reproductive choice and established by Planned Parenthood I six years earlier.
