A Connecticut man accused in his wife’s murder might have gotten away with it — if not for the victim’s Fitbit fitness tracker and other electronic devices, authorities allege.
Richard Dabate, 40, was charged this month with felony murder, tampering with physical evidence and making false statements following his wife Connie’s December 2015 death at their home in Ellington, Tolland County.

Regular readers may recall that back in January, I linked to a case where another man’s claims were challenged based on data from his cardiac monitor.
Of course, one could argue that if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear from these devices recording your biological data. But then maybe you’ll realize that everyone has something to hide, and maybe you just haven’t yet anticipated how your own data may be used against you one day.
