Just when you think you’ve seen it all, right? A regular reader from Canada sends along this news item seen at KCRA in Sacramento, where you might think that they’d be a bit more sophisticated and committed to protecting privacy:
The Auburn Greens homeowners association has instituted a new mandate for its residents: Keep your garage doors rolled up from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday or face a $200 fine.
The move was made in response to a tenant who was housing people in their garage, according to multiple residents.
Residents said the mandate is unfair, puts their personal belongings at risk and invades their privacy.
So who the heck in the homeowners association voted for this new mandate? Were homeowners notified in advance that this was on the agenda for a meeting? And does a condo association actually have the legal authority to impose this type of rule? And if they do have the authority, can they also demand that you leave the front door to your house wide open from 8 am to 10 pm? Just asking…..
crazy for sure.
