The UK’s decision to leave the EU single market and customs union will mean checks at the Irish border are “unavoidable”, Michel Barnier has warned.
European Union and UK negotiators will conclude the latest round of Brexit talks in Brussels later today.
The focus of the work this week has been the Brexit transition phase.
On the issue of the Irish border he told reporters: “Any solution must be precise, clear and unambiguous.”
