NY: “Textalyzer” bill introduced to state legislature

Posted on May 6, 2019 by pogowasright.org

No, thanks.

State Sen. Shelley B. Mayer held a roundtable April 29 on a proposed pilot project that would allow police to check drivers’ phones for distracted driving.

The proposed legislation, S2687/A7267, would establish a two-year pilot program in Westchester County. Police investigating an accident could use a “Textalyzer” — an electronic device to scan the phone and see if the person responsible was using their phone prior to the collision.

So no reasonable suspicion even required?

Rest in Peace, Fourth Amendment?
