A patient’s data is not the personal information of his or her doctor, B.C.’s Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner (OIPC) has ruled.
A doctor under investigation by the Medical Services Commission (MSC) had requested under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) all information held about him – including data pertaining to his patients.
