A court here Friday ordered a case to be registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against four Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) officials and two journalists for breaching the privacy of a gay varsity teacher S.R. Siras, officials said.
Siras, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances Wednesday, had moved the chief judicial magistrate’s (CJM) court accusing some AMU officials and journalists of intruding his privacy by carrying a sting operation on him.
Siras was filmed engaging in homosexual act with a rickshaw puller. On the basis of the film, he was later suspended Feb 9 by the administration on the grounds of ‘gross misconduct’.
