I missed the announcement, but better late than never – the winners of the Australia Privacy Foundation 2011 Orwell Awards were announced. Here are the dishonored:
Most Invasive Technology: Body Scanners
Worst Agency: Won Jointly by Qld Drivers Licence and Vic Transport Ticketing Authority
Worst Corporation: Facebook
The Boot-in-Mouth Award: Eric Schmidt (immediate past CEO of Google)
On the positive side, one Smith Award was made. The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Nigel Waters.
