Direct marketers will be fined $2200 from August if they fax or call emergency numbers on the expanded Do Not Call Register.
Legislation was passed at the end of May to expand the list of forbidden numbers.
From late August, product spruikers will be fined $2200 every time they fax advertisements to consumers who have sought privacy.
For the first time people can also register emergency service and government numbers.
