A former West Australian detective has escaped a jail term for using the police computer system to access the details of more than a dozen women he fancied.
John Lawrence Curran, 46, was given a seven-month suspended sentence and fined $1000 after pleading guilty in Perth Magistrates Court to 16 counts of unlawfully using police computers.
He had admitted to sexual “curiosity” in accessing the details of 15 women between November 2005 and January 2008.
He also pleaded guilty to two charges of unlawfully playing police video records of an interview to a girlfriend.
