Local governments in smaller communities continue to be “challenged” by provincial privacy legislation, Saskatchewan’s privacy commissioner says.
Factors such as lack of education about the Local Authority Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Legislation (LA FOIP), knowledge gaps and time available to process requests are among the most significant issues faced by the province’s towns, rural municipalities and villages, says Information and Privacy Commissioner Ron Kruzeniski.
