A Saskatoon woman is upset with Crown-owned Saskatchewan Government Insurance for sharing customer information with a national charity.
Janice Lavoie said she wondered why The War Amps of Canada were sending mail to her 15-year-old daughter and how they got the family’s address.
“We find out SGI in fact gives our information to third parties. They are not guarding our private, confidential information.”
Kelley Brinkworth with SGI said the Crown coproration gives its database of license information to the War Amps every year.
“It’s a very unique relationship that we have with them, they’re the only charity that we do this for. And it’s because … it directly relates to our business as an auto insurer, as far as their key return service.”
