Charges against two police officers accused of leaking confidential information about the job application of ex-Mayor James R. Miron’s brother have been dropped. A former police officer had charges against him reduced, bringing to an end an episode that had polarized town government.
The charges against Sgt. Joseph McNeil, president of the local police union, and Lt. Orlando Soto will be dismissed after they finish a term of probation without incident. Both have been suspended without pay since June 2009.
