If you are thinking of traveling to Spain on or after October 1, you may want to think twice — or at least be aware of a new law going into effect there that affects both foreign and domestic tourists.
The new law requires private rental landlords and hotels to collect information about you and forward it to the Ministry of the Interior. That includes your financial transactions, any contract information, credit card information, and your personal contact information.
For how long will the Ministry store this information? Forever? How will they secure it? Will the hotels retain any copy of what they have collected and sent to the Ministry?
The tourism industry is not happy about this new law. Travelers should be even more unhappier and should take a few minutes to find out more about this law and what might result from it.
