FJ: Talks begin on National ID card

Elenoa Osborne reports news from Fiji:

Consultation on the proposed national identification card began this morning – with senior officials of various government departments and ministries.

The ID card is expected to strengthen the work of law enforcement, immigration, customs, bio security, border police, airline – airport and port security.

The Ministry says the card will contain a micro chip containing personal bio data, picture, fingerprint, passport system, ID number, and barcodes for TIN and LTA watch list verification.
