At 11:36 am on March 18, 2006, PogoWasRight.org’s co-founder “Anonadmin” (aka “Ziplock”) posted our very first news item on PogoWasRight.org. The 20,000 posts that were on Pogo’s first blog platform are archived on our drives, but since then, there have been another 22,600 posts on this WordPress version and an additional 35,850 posts on the companion site, DataBreaches.net.
Whew!
Sadly, the issues we reported on back in 2006 are still of concern today, and in many respects, things have gotten a lot worse instead of better. Looking at the news categories this blog had then and what we have now, the only totally new addition has been that we added a category on Artificial Intelligence. (For a walk down memory lane, see what PogoWasRight.org looked like in April 2006, via archive.org)
The privacy quotation widget on that April 2006 screenshot reads, “What in heaven’s name are we doing allowing someone as careless as ChoicePoint to be in control of our data? I consider them the poster child for lax security protection.” — Senator Patrick Leahy, questioning the DOJ on the DOJ’s 2007 proposed budget, April 5, 2006.”
Today someone might just want to swap out “DOGE” for “ChoicePoint.”
In any event, Happy 19th Birthday, PogoWasRight.org, and to our readers, please join us in having some birthday cake today!
Happy 19th Birthday Pogo!!!
