Hopatcong passes employee privacy resolution

Posted on February 11, 2018June 25, 2025 by Dissent

Katie Moen reports:

The mayor and council have unanimously approved a resolution aimed at protecting the privacy of borough employees.

The resolution was first introduced by Mayor Michael Francis during a regular council meeting Jan. 17 following an article that was published in a local online blog — Hopatcong Lake Regional News — that questioned the management of the Recreation Department.

Francis said he elected to draft the resolution because some of the documents referenced in the blog were deemed personal and confidential by the borough and therefore should not have been released for publication.
