IE: FF wants Irish Water to delete council tenant data; Irish Water ‘only want names’

Yesterday, I noted the issue of Irish Water obtaining individuals’ PPS numbers. Today, there’s more on Irish Water in the news. BreakingNews.ie reports that the governing political party wants Irish Water to also delete the names of people whose information had been provided by local authorities.

Fianna Fáil wants Irish Water to destroy the information it has received so far on council tenants from local authorities.

It comes amid reports that the names of more than 100,000 people have been passed on to the utility as it tries to complete its billing database.

Fianna Fáil says the handing over of the information without the individual’s consent is unacceptable.
