Bill Rosenberger reports:
The daughter of state Treasurer John Perdue has sued the Marshall University Board of Governors and her former professor, Laura Wyant, charging that her name and some information about her grades were made public.
The civil complaint, filed Friday in the Circuit Court of Cabell County, states on or about Sept. 25, 2009, employees or agents of Marshall’s Board of Governors improperly released a transcript of Emily Perdue’s grades and personal information to third parties.
The complaint also accuses Wyant of the same allegation, and claims Emily Perdue learned of the unauthorized release of information through various media outlets.
The suit claims that the board violated both FERPA and West Virginia state law.
