UK: Crawley council workers have been “snooping” through residents’ rubbish

Council workers have been going through Crawley residents’ rubbish to check up on how much we recycle.

Researchers have been rooting through bins in Broadfield, Gossops Green and Pound Hill on collection days.

Gary Ellard spotted that his garbage was being sifted through in Hillmead, Gossops Green, last Tuesday.

The 31-year-old said: “I was very unhappy to find a council official coming onto my property and attempting to snoop through my rubbish before it was collected. I make a point of placing the rubbish just inside my property.

“I view it as an invasion of my privacy, especially as no consent was sought by the council.
