Worldcoin will allow users to erase their biometric data

Posted on April 14, 2024 by Dissent

CryptoDNES reports:

Worldcoin (WLD), the cryptocurrency initiative that pioneered an iris-scanning identification system to distinguish humans from bots online, is giving its users more control over their personal data.

According to statement, published by Worldcoin, users now have the option to permanently erase their iris code – a digital representation of their unique iris texture that allows them to “decrypt” their World ID.

Upon a deletion request, the person’s World ID will become invalid, beginning a six-month “cooling off” period to prevent immediate revalidation and protect against potential fraud. After this period, the iris code will be permanently deleted.
