5 popular apps Baldwin Wallace University found sells your personal data without permission

Sara Goldenberg reports on research by the Baldwin University MOPS (mobile privacy and security) Research Group. The group’s research was led by Brian Krupp, and was reported in SPEProxy: Enforcing Fine Grained Security and Privacy Controls on Unmodified Mobile Devices.

These apps were the top sellers (translation: worst offenders) among the apps the group studied when it came to selling your information:

So no more using Weather Channel for me, I guess, until I check into this more. I was not really a user of the other apps they report.  Hopefully you’ll take a look at their list and see whether you need to change any of your app usage, too.
