Educational authorities in Ras Al Khaimah have welcomed the idea of installing surveillance cameras in all the emirate’s schools controlled by the RAK Educational Zone.
The system, which has already been introduced in many public schools since the last academic year, will promote students’ safety while at school in addition to enhancing the authorities’ supervision in schools and helping deter bad behaviour among students, said Abdullah Hamad, Director General of the RAK Educational Zone.

According to educational authorities, the decision was taken because student behaviour in schools was deteriorating.
The officials said that cameras would closely monitor students’ behaviours especially in secondary schools and this would help curb bad practices among students such as smoking, use of mobile phones in classrooms, wearing of inappropriate clothing, violent behaviours and others.
