Nevada Attorney General Adam Paul Laxalt joined 31 other states and the District of Columbia in support of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s objection to the bankruptcy sale of personally identifiable information of RadioShack’s 117 million customers. RadioShack has nearly 50 locations throughout the state of Nevada.
“As privacy concerns become more prevalent, it is paramount that we avoid inappropriate disclosures of personal information,” said Laxalt. “RadioShack assured its customers that it would not sell their information, and now attempts to sell that data under these circumstances would be a clear violation of Nevada Deceptive Trade Practices law. I fully support Attorney General Paxton’s fight to protect consumers’ personally identifiable information.”
In addition to Nevada, other states who expressed support for this filing include: Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.
