The Canadian privacy watchdog who took on Facebook over how the social media giant treats the personal information of its estimated 500 million users could have to bow out of the fight early.
Jennifer Stoddart’s seven-year term as privacy commissioner is up in November, and it’s unclear whether the Conservative government will opt for new blood to take over the high-profile post.

If for some reason, Ms. Stoddart is not re-appointed, perhaps she’ll consider moving here and serving on the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board. I understand that there are still openings and sadly, expect that there will still be vacancies in November as President Obama has not nominated even one person for the board. That’s some commitment to privacy and civil liberties, Mr. President.
