Cryptome’s John Towery dossier

Posted on January 24, 2011 by pogowasright.org

John Young of Cryptome has been doing his own balancing act in releasing the John Towery dossier. The dossier reveals personal details of many of the individuals that Towery was surveilling and many of them understandably do not want their personal details “out there” for everyone to read and obtain.

So Young pulled the files for a few days to permit some redactions and to permit those who are affected by the surveillance and the release of the file to provide a statement to Cryptome about how this has affected them, etc.

You can read the correspondence concerning the publication of the dossier on Cryptome. I think allowing the redactions is the right decision here. Do you?
