Mississippi Passes Caller ID Anti-Spoofing Act

Posted on March 17, 2010 by pogowasright.org

Wally Northway reports:

Mississippi Public Service Commission chairman Brandon Presley is praising the passage of the Caller ID Anti-Spoofing Act, which was signed into law by Gov. Haley Barbour March 15.

Presley said the measure would outlaw deceptive tactics used by some telemarketers and other when calling Mississippians. The Act outlaws a technique used to show a different number and/or name on caller ID than that of the actual caller. An example would be where a person’s caller ID may show a call from “662-555-1234” when actually it is a call from “952-555-5678.”
