Morgan Fogarty reports:

They cost between $6,000 and $8,000 each, but the time they could save patrol officers is invaluable. Portable fingerprint scanners mean the days of lying to an officer about who you are are over.

The ACLU has voiced concerns that the scanners could lead to an invasion of privacy. Miller says the key is to set boundaries. He says, “We self impose some restrictions on ourselves so that we don’t abuse people, quite frankly.”
