Privacy commissioner finds Immigration NZ in breach

Posted on August 17, 2015June 26, 2025 by Dissent

Privacy Commissioner John Edwards has referred a case to the Director of Human Rights Proceedings after finding Immigration New Zealand breached a migrant’s privacy by failing to correct his date of birth.

Read more of the press release on the Office of the Privacy Commissioner’s site. And for more information, read the case note.  I’m not sure I understand how this really is a privacy issue as much as a human rights issue, but if they say it’s a privacy issue, I guess it is.
