Senate Republicans Push New Privacy Initiative

John D. McKinnon and Ryan Tracy report:

Senate Republicans are prepared to support tough new protections for consumer data in hopes of salvaging efforts to adopt a national privacy law, Commerce Committee chairman Sen. Roger Wicker (R., Miss.) said Monday.

Of course, their version will preempt stronger state laws.
