A state with individualistic roots running from the Declaration of Independence to the Whiskey Rebellion isn’t among the nearly two dozen that bar employers from insisting on access to your personal social media account. Similarly, Pennsylvania has no law governing the information stored in new cars’ event data recorders (“black boxes”), no restriction on the flow of student data through education technology websites, and no rules for many other existing or potential surveillance tools now regulated in other states.
